We are the music-makers, And we are the dreamers of dreams, Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams. World-losers and world-forsakers, Upon whom the pale moon gleams; Yet we are the movers and shakers, Of the world forever, it seems.

About This Quote

We are the music-makers,And we are the dreamers of dreams,Wandering by lone sea-breakers,And sitting by desolate streams.World-losers and world-forsakers,Upon whom the pale moon gleams;Yet we are the movers and shakers,Of the world forever, it seems. The poet Robert Frost wrote this poem as a teenager. In it he describes his own feelings at being a teenager in New England. He felt as though he was a dreamer of dreams.

But he also knew that whatever dreams he had about being something other than what he was at that moment would soon be shattered by reality. He knew that his dreams were only meant to last for one brief moment before reality took its toll on them. But he also knew that even though his dreams would fade away, they were still true to him and made him who he was.
